Una canzone francese del Duecento nel repertorio dell’Ars Nova italiana

Abstract

Analisi di una composizione canonica a tre voci conservata nel ms. Firenze, BNCF Panciatichi
26. Il testo poetico è il risultato dell’adattamento della prima strofe della canzone "Quant je voi lou
dous tans venir" di René de Trie (RS 1484; L 220,2). L’aggiunta di un "refrain" metricamente svincolato
dalla strofe avvicina il testo al genere tipicamente francese della "rotrouenge", mentre sul piano della
forma musicale permette al compositore di allinearsi al genere del madrigale.

This study examines a canonic three-voice composition preserved in the manuscript Florence,
BNCF Panciatichi 26. The poetic text derives from an adaptation of the first stanza of the
song "Quant je voi lou dous tans venir" by René de Trie (RS 1484; L 220,2). The addition of a metrically
autonomous refrain aligns the text with the formal characteristics of the French "rotrouenge", while,
from the perspective of musical structure, it enables the composer to engage with the conventions
of the madrigal genre.
